Is the Tayyibat diet safe?

6 min read

The food side, for a healthy adult, is ordinary: real food, small plates, aged cheese instead of milk. The dangerous part was never the food. It was what he said about medicine. This site keeps the food and draws the line at what he said about medicine.

What the authorities did

In March 2026 the Egyptian Medical Syndicate struck Dr. Al-Awadi off the register. In May 2026 Egypt's media regulator ordered his recordings removed from the internet, after submissions from the Ministry of Health and the Syndicate, which said the material threatened lives. Saudi Arabia's health ministry issued a warning about the diet. In August 2026 an investigation by the magazine New Lines reported people admitted to intensive care after stopping insulin on his advice, including deaths.

This site has not seen those medical records and does not repeat the names. It does not need to. What he said about medicine is dangerous whether or not anyone can name a victim.

What he said about medicine, and where this site draws the line

In his own recordings he told people that food would replace their medicine. He said removing chicken removes the need for antidepressants and sleeping tablets. He said removing eggs removes the need for an asthma inhaler. He spoke about insulin and diabetes in the same way.

Never stop, reduce or replace a prescribed medicine because of anything on this site, or in any book. Type 1 diabetes is a condition in which the pancreas does not make insulin. It does not respond to a change of diet, and stopping insulin kills. Asthma inhalers, blood-pressure tablets, psychiatric medication, immunosuppressants: the same principle applies to all of them.

If eating this way changes your numbers, and for many people it does, that is a conversation with your doctor about adjusting a dose, with test results in front of you both. Doctors reduce medication all the time when the numbers justify it. What they cannot do is reverse a crisis that started in a kitchen three weeks ago.

What he said about smoking

Clips circulate in which he plays down the harm of smoking. This site does not repeat them and does not agree with them. Smoking is harmful. Full stop.

The food itself

Strip away the medicine talk and what is left is a way of eating a great many doctors would recognise: no factory food, no white flour, real bread, olive oil, fish and lamb, cooked vegetables, fruit, small plates, and water when you are thirsty. The unusual parts, no eggs, no salad, no lentils, white rice and sugar as staples, have reasons, and each reason is on the food's page for you to judge.

Two places where the book will not follow him even on food: drink water whenever you are thirsty, including with meals, and the word "garbage" he used for vegetables goes beyond what the chemistry supports. Many vegetables are allowed here once cooked.

Who should not start without a doctor

Speak to your doctor first if you live with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease or an autoimmune condition; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; if you are under 18, elderly or underweight; or if you have any history of an eating disorder. Take the food list with you. There is nothing in it a doctor cannot read.

Fasting is optional inside this system. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, underweight, elderly, diabetic, or on medicine that must be taken with food, follow the food rules and leave the fasting alone.

Stop and seek care if

  • you faint, or feel dizzy in a way that does not pass when you sit down
  • you have chest pain, or a racing heart at rest
  • you are confused, or cannot concentrate in a way that is new
  • you keep vomiting, or cannot keep fluid down
  • you lose weight fast without meaning to
  • you have diabetes and notice thirst, frequent urination, a fruity smell on the breath, or drowsiness. Those are signs of ketoacidosis and they need a hospital, not a change of meal

And if you feel worse after three weeks rather than better, stop and see a doctor. Not every symptom is adjustment.
