Are beans, lentils and chickpeas allowed on the Tayyibat diet?
Lentils, chickpeas, broad beans, white beans, lupin beans and peas are all his own rulings, all no. So hummus, ful and lentil soup are out. Two surprises: peanuts are in, roasted and unsalted, and tahini stays, because sesame is a seed, not a bean.

Why beans are out
Three reasons, and they are chemistry, not opinion.
They stick to your gut lining. Beans carry lectins, plant defence proteins that bind the cells lining your intestine. Four or five raw kidney beans are enough to cause violent vomiting in an adult. Soaking and hard boiling reduce it; they do not remove the reason the plant made it.
They stop your body absorbing iron and zinc. Phytic acid binds the minerals in the same meal and carries them out of you unabsorbed. You can eat a mineral and still not get it.
They ferment into gas. Humans do not make the enzyme that digests raffinose, the sugar in beans, peas, lentils and cabbage. It reaches the colon intact and bacteria ferment it. That is the bloating.
Food by food
Lentils: no. His own ruling. Chickpeas: no, so hummus is out. Broad beans: no, so ful is out. White beans and lupin beans: no. Raw beans like these are poisonous until they are boiled well. Peas: no. Their sugars ferment in your gut and cause the very bloating this system is meant to end.
Green beans: no, following from his rules. He never named them.
The two that stay
Peanuts. Technically a bean, but he allowed them. Eat them roasted and unsalted.
Tahini. His own ruling, yes. Sesame is a seed. Tahini is where you go for what yoghurt and hummus used to do: honey and tahini on real bread is a breakfast in the book.
What to eat instead
The protein in this system comes from lamb, goat, beef, rabbit and wild fish, every other day. On the rest days, rice, potatoes, dates, butter, olive oil, aged cheese and bread. You will not be hungry, and you are not deficient.
