Tayyibat Code

Food list › Vegetables

Is chilli pepper allowed on the Tayyibat diet?

No

No, by his rules. He never ruled on this food directly. The verdict follows from his rules.

Why chilli pepper is off the list

It's a nightshade. Its seeds and skin carry natural chemicals called alkaloids. That's why bell peppers and raw tomato are out, and tomato only comes back peeled, seeded and cooked.

The detail

Solanine-family alkaloids, concentrated in seeds and skin. Bell peppers and raw tomato are excluded; peeled, seeded, cooked tomato is the rare exception.
