The Tayyibat diet and diabetes: what he said, and what this site says
If you have diabetes, do not change how you eat because of this site until you have spoken to your doctor, and never touch your insulin or tablets on your own. Dr. Al-Awadi said otherwise. This site does not follow him there, and it is why his licence was taken.

What he said about diabetes and medication
In his recordings he told people that food would replace their medicine, and he spoke about diabetes and insulin in that way. Stronger versions circulate, that he told people to stop everything at once, type 1 diabetics included. The book does not quote those, because they could only be traced to people describing him, not to a recording of him. What he said in his own voice is enough to be dangerous.
Why insulin is not optional
Type 1 diabetes is a condition in which the pancreas does not produce insulin. It is not a lifestyle problem, it does not respond to a change of diet, and insulin is not optional. A person with type 1 diabetes who stops insulin develops diabetic ketoacidosis, and diabetic ketoacidosis kills.
Type 2 diabetes is different, and a way of eating can change the numbers. But changing the numbers is exactly why you cannot adjust the medicine yourself: a dose that was right last month can be wrong this month, in either direction. That is a conversation with your doctor, with test results in front of you both.
The food side
Two things on the list will surprise anyone with diabetes: white rice and sugar are staples. The book says white bread and sugar arrive in the blood at almost the same speed, and that a short plate, true hunger and fasting days are what the system relies on to handle it. Whether that suits you is a question for your doctor.
The book also says fasting is optional, and that people with diabetes or on medicine that must be taken with food should follow the food rules and leave the fasting alone.
If you decide to try it, with your doctor
- Take the food list with you to the appointment. There is nothing in it a doctor cannot read.
- Agree in advance how often you will test and when you will call.
- Do not add the fasting rhythm.
- Do not change a dose yourself, ever, in either direction.
Signs that need a hospital, not a change of meal
Thirst, frequent urination, a fruity smell on the breath, drowsiness, confusion, vomiting. Those are the signs of ketoacidosis. Stop reading and get care.
People also ask
Did Dr. Al-Awadi tell diabetics to stop insulin?
In his recordings he told people food would replace their medicine, and he spoke about insulin that way. This site does not follow him there. Stopping insulin in type 1 diabetes causes ketoacidosis, which kills.
Can the Tayyibat diet cure diabetes?
No diet cures type 1 diabetes. Type 2 numbers can change with a way of eating, and that is exactly why any change must be managed with your doctor, with tests.
Is white rice safe for diabetics?
That is a question for your doctor, not a website. White rice and sugar are staples of the system. It relies on small plates and true hunger to handle them.
Should a diabetic fast on Mondays and Thursdays?
The book says no: if you are diabetic or on medicine that must be taken with food, follow the food rules and leave the fasting alone.
