How did Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi die? What is known, and what is not

5 min read

Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi died in a hotel room in Dubai in April 2026, aged 47, six weeks after Egypt's Medical Syndicate struck him off. The official report recorded natural causes, a sudden cardiac clot. His family did not accept it, and a prosecutor ordered his body exhumed. No evidence of foul play has ever been produced, and the rumour that he is still alive is false.

The timeline, with dates

  • 11 March 2026. The Egyptian Medical Syndicate strikes him from the register of physicians and withdraws his licence. The Syndicate is a professional body, not a court. No court in any country has ruled on any of this.
  • April 2026. He is found dead in a hotel room in Dubai. He was 47. The official UAE report records natural causes: a sudden cardiac clot. Egypt's Foreign Ministry reviews the file and says the same.
  • 30 April 2026. At his family's request, Egypt's Public Prosecutor orders the body exhumed and re-autopsied. It is examined by a forensic specialist and reburied. His widow files a criminal complaint against anyone proven to be involved, and her lawyer says publicly that the death holds "a mysterious secret."
  • 3 May 2026. Egypt's Supreme Council for Media Regulation bans the publication, broadcast and re-circulation of any recording or writing by him, after submissions from the Ministry of Health and the Medical Syndicate. Links are referred to the telecoms regulator for removal, and to stop them being posted again.

What is not known

Whether the exhumation changed anything. Egyptian outlets separately published what they described as the forensic report. That report was a leak, unconfirmed, and this site labels it as such. This site alleges nothing against anyone.

In a video that circulated widely after his death, he said that if he died, he would certainly have been killed. That is his voice, reported here as what he said. It is not evidence of how he died.

"He is still alive"

Videos claiming he is alive circulate in Arabic. His death was recorded by two governments, and his body was exhumed and reburied at his family's request. He is not alive.

Why the ban matters more than the death

The order did not remove the medication advice that got him struck off. It removed everything: three years of teaching about rice, dates, butter, olive oil and plate size, none of it dangerous. It also made him impossible to check. You are asked to accept a summary of a man's work by the people who ruled against him, with the work itself withdrawn from view.

That is why this site exists. Everything on it was gathered from his own recordings, seventy-four hours of them, before they disappeared. Not a tribute and not a defence. A copy, with the line this site draws clearly marked. Those parts are here.

Was Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi killed?

No evidence of foul play has ever been produced. The official cause was a sudden cardiac clot. His widow filed a complaint and a prosecutor ordered an exhumation. This site alleges nothing against anyone.

Why was Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi struck off?

The Egyptian Medical Syndicate removed his licence on 11 March 2026 over his advice that food could replace prescribed medicine. The Syndicate is a professional body, not a court.

What was Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi's specialty?

He trained at Ain Shams University in Cairo and worked as a consultant anaesthesiologist and intensive-care physician. He was not an Oxford professor; that claim circulates and is wrong.
